APF, Rantai Tekstil Lestari and the Commitment to Building Indonesia’s Circular Textile System Momentum

Yogyakarta, October 23, 2025 — PT Asia Pacific Fibers (APF), a leading polyester manufacturer in Indonesia, reinforced its role in the industry’s transition towards a more circular system through active participation in the event “Building Momentum for Circular Textile Systems in Indonesia.” The event, which marked the one-year anniversary of the Circular Fashion Partnership (CFP) Indonesia, was co-hosted by the Global Fashion Agenda and Rantai Tekstil Lestari (RTL), of which APF is a founding member.

As a founding member of RTL, a non-profit alliance established by the initiative of nine pioneering organizations across the national textile value chain, APF reflects its vision to be the most responsive and innovative producer. This involvement aligns with the company’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its corporate tagline, “Winning Together,” which emphasizes the importance of collaboration in achieving a fair and sustainable textile ecosystem.

The event, held at the Kepatihan Kadipaten Pakualaman in Yogyakarta, successfully gathered over 100 key stakeholders, including manufacturers, global brands, waste management actors, as well as representatives from crucial government bodies such as BAPPENAS, BEKRAF, and the Ministry of Industry, along with the Indonesian Textile Association (API). The presence of Gusti Kanjeng Bendara Raden Ayu Adipati Paku Alam as the honorary host further underscored the cultural and regional government support for this sustainability initiative.

The RTL alliance, supported by ID Kemitraan (ID Partnership), has established itself as Indonesia’s first multi-stakeholder platform exclusively dedicated to advancing textile sustainability. For APF, this serves as an essential channel for integrating its innovative upstream (Hulu) manufacturing practices with the downstream recycling needs.

Through the constructive dialogue facilitated at the event, stakeholders collectively identified regulatory and infrastructural barriers and mapped investment opportunities to boost the domestic capacity for recycling Post-Industrial Textile Waste. The primary focus is on creating a system that is traceable, efficient, and possesses the necessary economic scale to attract global investment.

APF continually invests in technology to process recycled fibers and develop polyester products that have a lower environmental footprint. This commitment not only meets the escalating demand from global brands for sustainable materials but also strengthens the fundamentals of the Indonesian textile industry.

APF’s involvement as a founding member of RTL is a tangible manifestation of its vision: “To be the most responsive and innovative polyester producer through value creation for customers, employees, stakeholders, and society. “With the momentum generated from this forum in Yogyakarta, APF and RTL are prepared to continue driving collective action, ensuring that Indonesia remains at the forefront of the global transition towards a circular and sustainable textile system.
